mainLine Gaming was founded in June 2005 in Dover, DE as a United States ‘’CounterStrike’ clan by Joshua "DarK" Garnick in his basement probably making fun of his brother John. Joshua "DarK" Garnick had his hands dipped in almost everything eSports related, and at this time, eSports was at its prime.
Initially, the house of the Garnicks family was the mLine headquarters. At first, mainLine Gaming played mainly Counterstrike, Quake 2 and Quake 3 Arena. mL became one of the first non-professional clans to feature a foreign team to be their flagship in Europe. In late 2005 DarK met up with Joshua "jdubya" Watson who got out of the army in Colorado Springs, CO and moved to Dover, DE just a few streets away from the infamous DarK .
After a few seasons together, jdubya went his own way to move on from Counterstrike and move into Counterstrike: Source . His run did not last long, only a few seasons in the then Caleague Main Division and moved back to his roots, Counterstrike. Both played along side each other off and on, but jdubya saw the potential and had the passion to take mainLine from a community to a semi-pro or even professional level of gaming.
In early 2006 jdubya registered the name, logo and mission statement to the US Government making mainLine Gaming a LLC and patent on the name in eSports. Still to this day DarK carry`s the name proudly in his own rights, as he should. mainLine Gaming was his baby, that I took and helped grow into an adult.
The 2006 season brought no successes to the Counter-Strike team for either. Most notably, the team failed to qualify for the Electronic Sports World Cup and the CPL failing short at the qualifiers. The team did manage to qualify however for the KODE5 semi-finals, now unsuccessful at beating mirror image gaming. At the KODE5 semi-finals, they won two matches and lost to team wNv in the group stages. They then lost to Made in Brazil in the single elimination round, placing 8th-11th overall. .
In 2008 jdubya got ahold of a Major League Gaming CoD4 team and Gears of War team hoping to make the pro-circuit however couldn`t afford the travel. Jdubya will the help of Phoenix Health was able to afford both teams to compete and the investment paid off as both teams competed for a season in MLG Pro-Circuit representing the name, the organization, and themselves well. Both teams however didn`t produce results needed for future funding and had to be let go.
By March of 2009, mainLine Gaming had come full circle. With the rise and fall of counterstrike source at the Championship Gaming Series and everyone falling back to Counterstrike 1.6, jdubya fell back to his roots, and picked up yet another 1.6 team to carry on the name. The teams had fairly successful seasons, though the rosters and members parted ways for either personal reasons or lost the passion to game.
In October 2009, the passion and candle is re-lite and are being lead by both a great counterstrike 1.6 team as well as a undefeated call of duty 4 team. We look forward to growing and continuing what is mainLine Gaming. |
